What type of air conditioning system is best for my London home?
The right air conditioning system for your home depends on the layout, insulation, usage, and planning restrictions. In London, where space is tight and many properties are older or in conservation areas, most people choose from these three options:
Best for: Flats, terraced homes, bedrooms, lounges.
These are the most popular choice across London. A wall-mounted indoor unit is paired with a small outdoor condenser unit (usually fitted on a balcony, flat roof, or rear wall). They’re sleek, quiet, energy-efficient and perfect for cooling and heating single rooms.
Best for: Homes with 2–5 rooms needing A/C.
These allow multiple indoor units (wall, ducted, floor-standing, or ceiling cassettes) to be connected to one external unit. Great for London townhouses or maisonettes where you want cooling upstairs and downstairs but have limited space outside.
Best for: Larger renovations, basements, or high-end refits.
If you’re refurbishing or building new, ducted systems can be hidden in ceilings or lofts to give discreet, whole-home comfort. These are more common in large detached homes or premium flats where aesthetics matter most.

How much does air conditioning installation cost in London?
The cost of installing air conditioning in London depends on a few things, the type of system, how many rooms you want cooled, and the complexity of the installation. For a single wall-mounted unit (a popular choice for London flats), prices generally start from around £1,500–£3,000 including supply and install.
For larger homes, offices, or commercial spaces, costs vary depending on layout, access, and how many indoor units you need.
At Warm & Cool London, we install Daikin, Mitsubishi, and Toshiba systems, all backed by up to 5 years manufacturer warranty when fitted by our certified engineers.
We cover homes and businesses across Camden Town, Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Kensington, and Marylebone and beyond.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Air Con Questions
Here are some of the things we’re most often asked by customers across London. If you’re still not sure about something, just give us a ring, we’re always happy to help.
Most London homes go for wall-mounted split systems, they’re compact, quiet, and perfect for flats or townhouses. If you want to cool multiple rooms, a multi-split system lets you run several indoor units off one outdoor unit. In heritage or listed buildings, ducted or floor-mounted systems might be more discreet and planning-friendly.
Usually not, especially for standard residential installs. But if you live in a listed building, conservation area, or flat with a shared exterior wall, permission might be needed. We can advise and work with your building management if required.
Modern systems from Daikin, Mitsubishi, and Toshiba are whisper-quiet — most indoor units run at the same volume as a fridge. Outdoor units are also low-noise, making them ideal for urban settings.
Split = one indoor unit + one outdoor unit
Multi-split = multiple indoor units + one outdoor unit
Ducted = hidden in ceilings, ideal for whole-home cooling
We’ll recommend what works best for your layout, budget, and how many rooms you need to cool.
Yes, all the systems we install are air-to-air heat pumps, which means they provide energy-efficient heating as well as cooling. Great for mild winters and reducing gas usage.
We specialise in Mitsubishi, Daikin, and Toshiba — chosen for their energy performance, reliability, and manufacturer warranties of up to 5 years.
Absolutely. We install and maintain AC for homes, shops, cafes, offices, salons, and schools across London, from Soho to Southwark, Clapham to Clerkenwell.
Most single-room systems are done in 1 day. Multi-room or commercial installs can take 2–4 days depending on the size and access.
Yes, most London flats can accommodate a wall-mounted split system, but we’ll check for any restrictions with outside walls or roof spaces. We also offer internal condenser units where external installation isn’t possible.
Once a year is ideal to keep things efficient, clean, and under warranty. For commercial units, 6-monthly checks are often recommended.
Absolutely, we offer full aftercare, repairs, and servicing on all systems we install, and in many cases, on existing systems too.
Warm & Cool London "Standard" boiler service
Every boiler may have slightly different instructions but mostly include the following. The installation meets regulations, testing safety devices are still functioning, flue gas analysis, checking gas consumption, water leaks, cleaning the condensate trap and most importantly, testing that there are no gas leaks!
Gas Rating confirms that all other test results recorded during the boiler service are measured as the boiler runs at full capacity. The gas rating test also ensures the boiler’s Gas consumption is correct and as listed in the manufacturer’s specifications, confirming efficiency and safety.
The flue gas analysis tests assess the boiler’s combustion emission levels. These tests confirm the boiler is burning correctly or identify harmful gases like carbon monoxide.
Condensing boilers use a device known as a condensate trap to prevent harmful gases from escaping into the condensate pipe. Cleaning the condensate trap removes residue and prevents blockages. If not cleaned, a blocked condensate trap will cause the boiler to shut down.
Cleaning the heat exchanger prevents debris buildup and optimises the heat transfer from the burning gas to water. Cleaning the heat exchanger ensures maximum efficiency and longevity of the boiler.
From time to time, the boiler or heating system expansion vessel will need pumping up to the correct pressure. A quick test on service may identify an imminent issue.
Cleaning the heat exchanger prevents debris buildup and optimises the heat transfer from the burning gas to water. Cleaning the heat exchanger ensures maximum efficiency and longevity of the boiler.
The boilers manufacturer’s instructions will list the year or point that a main service is required. Unlike the standard annual service, a main service often requires that gaskets and electrodes are replaced as part of the service. This is normally around the fifth-year service but could depend on a performance test.
